Pittsburgh
1043 on St Clair at the Highland Park car house.  The box on the pole is a headway recorder.  The motorman dialed his leaving time and punched a button that registered his punched and actual times in the central ofice on tape   If he left early, the two times would not match and he would lose a day's pay. the first time. If he left late, it would show that, also.  If no time was registered, the attendant called the Route Foreman to find out why the service was not on time.  A fresh car would start out from the car house to fill in the headway gap.  Each terminal had one.
